We got the Dark Knight for christmas. We have been watching the extras lately. They are very interesting. Not only are we learning about the gadgets that he uses but we are learning about the background of Batman. They delve into the Bruce Wayne/batman persona...how different and similar and who is the real person. Plus it looks at his enemies with a bit longer look at the joker..It kinda gives you a differnt perspective on the batman...
if you got the time take a look

Fun times for the kids...
Yesterday we had a busy day....It was a dance at the high school so Amber decided she wanted to have the girls get ready at our house. It ended up being about 6 girls. She made this grand plan of them coming over getting ready then the boys coming over. Then we had picture time...Oh I forgot to tell you parents were invited also for pictures. After that the kids had dinner at our house, pot luck style, since the dance is girl ask boy and the girls were trying to save money on dinner :)
When the dance was over the girls came back to spend the night!!! How much fun is that... do you remember those days?? as a kid?? Well they are different as a parent :) NOT much sleep!
It ended with laughs, food, fights, kung foo and finally sleep.

Wakey Wakey
Yesterday I got a new alarm clock it has a projector on it. You know the ones it also puts the time on the ceiling or where ever you point it. So last night Gary spent half the night looking at the time on the ceiling--why?? I guess just to make sure it was there. I thought it was funny when he told me he was kept awake by my new alarm clock. He did not think it was soo funny. Who knows what will happen tonight??

Its a 1st for me
I was talking to someone on the side of the road today and you know how in the movies cars drive by and spash water on bystanders? Well, its kinda slushy outside and this car sped by and.... you guessed it we got splatted with slush balls from head to toe. Luckly we were not facing the street so we got it in the back of the head and such.
That has never happened to me before.

Gone for a bit...
I have been on a bit of a vacation/ I went down to Texas for the last few days. I had a good time. I got to see the San Antiono zoo so now I can check that off my list of places to go :) I know its now quite Christmas yet but we also went and looked at some Christmas lights that a town put up on their lake. It was very pretty and the weather was really nice.

Amazing.......

I know I usually write about fun stuff but today I will not be putting something like that in this space. Today we went to the funeral of a classmate of Stevens that we also happen to be friends with the family since he was in kindergarten. He had just turned 19 in June and decided life was too much for him. The amazing thing to me about this was at the funeral all the classmates that showed up to support him and the family. There were about 70+ college kids at the funeral not counting the others at the visitation. One of them even spoke representing the others that were there. Kids came from all over just for the funeral and had to get back to school today. Amazing to me.
I know that in my class, in my day, this would not have happened especially being 2 years out of high school. I talked about it with Steven today and I think its because of facebook and myspace.
That keeps all the kids involved with each other. Very good for myspace and facebook huh?
Rest in Peace Joey
You were amazing!

Day at the Movies
We saw this movie at and very comfy theater we haven't been to before. They even had a Star Bucks--how awesome was that. But expensive--yes it was a bit but in the theater there was huge seats and plenty of leg room ( I couldn't even touch the back of the chair in front of me if I stuck my leg out) and every was seated so you could see. Now what movie did we see???

C-c-cold Weather
Well On Sat there were flurries and it was freezing out--there was 15-20 mph wind with 32 deg. temp. So for the soccer game it was terribly cold to sit out there for 2 1/2 hours. There was double overtime and the team we were rooting for ended up losing in a shootout. It was unfortunate and by then our fingers felt like they were frostbitten. It seemed to take 1/2 of the ride home to warm back up!

A day of white stuff...
Well we got it today--not really got it but it has been sleeting for most of the day. So I guess I shouldn't have put that picture up a couple days ago and maybe that wouldn't have happened huh? I think its supposed to be like this tomorrow also and we have a college visit with an outdoor soccer game to watch--do you think they will take offense if we watch it from the car??

Its here....Its here
Well it finally arrived....what you say??? our other recliner! Yay right? We thought so til we opened it. It has been a bit since we ordered it ...only 6 months...so we were wondering if it was the right chair or the color would be right. We thought it all look good when we left the store only to get home and find the color is off. So we are back to dealing with the store and see what will happen now. Great right...We have to wait til Monday to take the chair back in to recheck and say what happened to the color??

egrets
These lovely birds are becoming more common in our area. I have always wanted to get pictures of them. They are very skittish and I think you need a long range lens to get a great shot of one of them or you need to be very sneaky and still. Which I am not :) So this is the best I can get til I get a better camera :)
Hooray for screw ups!
Great surprise today--I showed up at work and they had someone scheduled to work for me today. Ya hoo right!!
Actually they had someone scheduled for the next 2 days also but I told them I would work those days. So I came home and did some house work , walked the dogs and now I am resting on the couch watching House.

Pelicans on the Lake
.jpg)
This is one of the few shots I got of the pelicans at the lake. There were only about 6 left and they were hanging out near the beach til I got close enough they they took off for the middle :(
There are usually hundreds of them here in Sept. But here we are in Oct. so I am a little late getting out there to see them
Natural Play Area
Here we went to Jester Park to see if there were any Pelicans left and check out the fall colors. At the back by the buffalo and elk they have made a natural play are for the kids. So we took a few shots--one of the stairs made out of posts was really a neat idea. I dont' really know if the kids will understand the natural toys--I feel they will probably be like " where are all the swings, monkey bars slides, etc" but who knows kids could be different today :)

Last weekend....
we went down to the Covered Bridge Festival. Gary had never been there and wanted to see the covered bridges plus the festival. It was not so much fun in my opinion and took about 20 min to go through. There was mostly food and some crafts plus some alpacas in town square. Then you had to drive around the country side looking for the covered bridges. We did find a maze made out of hedges--that was real fun to walk through and there was a covered bridges not too far from there. This is where they filmed the movie Bridges of Madison County with Clint Eastwood and Meryl Streep

Interesting day...
This morning at work a package came in that was suspected of having drugs in it. They brought in a drug-sniffing dog. It was so exciting to watch him work. He ended up tagging the package for drugs twice. The owner showed up to get the package and was arrested outside after they found drugs inside the box. Yeah for the dog!
I think this would be an exciting line of work to get into. I wonder how you do that?

A Couple Peeves.....
I was at work today and there was a girl who was driving her car while talking on her cell phone she had her dog in the back seat. The window was down and the dog was hanging out looking around and barking at cars. All I could think was "Wow--is she really paying any attention to what she is doing??? You know between the barking and the talking. "
Here is another one: On the way home from work I saw a mortorcycle on the highway---you know where its 55mph and people really go 65mph- and he had a back pack on. Nothing unusual there right??? Well he had a Minature Pincher in it or should I say sticking out of it barking up a storm, bouncing up and down. I am going to assume he was tied in but where is the saftey here. Oh, the driver did have his helmet on :)

Zoo Day
We also went to the zoo last weekend. They have a fish feeding area that swans and ducks try to get food also. Gary and I were just checking out the fish from the bridge and 2 ducks came up from the water around the corner of the bridge and just hung out at Garys feet. It was really funny they just kept walking around his feet. Then when we went to the swans a little girl was feeding them and her mom wasn't watching--guess what happened???? Yup thats right That swan bit that 5yr old hand. I have to say it was kinda funny from my perspective and my camera's :) Yup I did get a pic of that-- I even showed it to her mom--see how nice I am :)
The zoo was great!!!

Finally!!!!!!
Today we go to Target to do normal grocery shopping and we are just trained to check for Wii stuff. So we go in and are normally disappointed so today we are shocked when we see a Wii Fit box!!! I had to do a double look! I had never seen the box even--but today I saw 3 on the shelf and they had 4 more in boxes. We have been looking for ever since it came out casually---not hard core. We finally lucked out :)

Coolest thing.....
We went to Menards tonight to return a shovel for the second time. We had forgotten the receipt. They now have a machine that you slide your credit card or check across a screen and it brings up all your purchases by date. You print it and whaaa laaa---you have a receipt. I was surprised I had shopped at Mendards as much as I had. I just wanted to print all the receipts it was sooooo easy. I loved it.

Rabbit fun
I had some fun tonight with the dogs. We play this game chasing rabbits around the yard. The big dogs and I kick him out and then Misha chases him down and barks til we get there. Well tonight Opal kicked a rabbit out and it ran down the hill and stopped. Misha got right on him so he took off again and ran down by the willow on the outside of Mishas inv. fenc. So she just stood them barking to tell us where he was. We came through the willow and couldn't see the rabbit. It took me a few min to find him but the rabbit had sat down under a piece of overbrush. It was very cute. The dogs couldnt find him they were looking all over--high, low--no rabbit. I called Gary over and showed him the rabbit about then Opal spotted it. She got all excited again but I pulled her away so I could try to get a pic. but the rabbit ran away so sorry no pic.

HD TV
We have been enjoying our new satellite. We try to only watch HD tv. Dumb huh? It is such a better pic. We usually scan for HD channels to watch 1st----we have even sunk so low as to watch football and baseball :) But the best thing is we can record The Dog Whisperer with Cesar Millan in HD!!! Previously we didn't have Nat. Geographic Channel so this is a big plus--I always had to watch it on the road when I traveled with Amber and soccer. I just love to watch this show--so this was one of my requirements when we were looking at new satellite.

I won this....
I might have won the neckalce for Opal and I did lose a blanket for Chase but when it came time for the auction I had my eye one 1 item only. This print is called Shades of Grey. There is a dog in here that looks just like our dog who passed away named Rabbit. So we are fond of this print. So we thought we would go for this if it did't go too much. Lucky for us we only had 1 other bidder and after Gary beat her with a stick she backed out :) ha. Just kidding but we did end up with this beautiful piece that we had a spot for behind the sofa already waiting.
Prairie Beach '08

We had a good time yesterday. Opals trainer came over so we got to visit with her and she got to see Opal :) The dogs love to get together with the other greys. There is no growling or fighting only tail wagging and butt sniffing. They also love all the attention they get from other dog owners--now Opal and Chase get lots b/c they are whites --which are uncommon-- plus 2 living together very uncommon--People think they are related but no. At the raffle yesterday I won Opal some bling which made her even more of the belle of the ball! The pearls have smaller pink ones in between to match her collar plus its for support of breast cancer. She is pretty tired in the photo as it was a long day for them with much more excitement than normal.

House of Illness
Well we have a bit of sickness in our house. I have had a cold the last few days and can't take cold medicine so I am having to suffer. :( Amber got real sick last night and today I took her to the doc and she has Strep throat. Wierd thing was at the doc office they gave her a choice of pill or a shot of penicillian so she went for the shot. After the shot they kept us there for 40 min waiting for the ibuprofin or tylonel ot get her temp to go down since it was 103.3. So now she has 5 days of no work, friends or school. Poor thing huh?

Watch where you stick your hand...
I was cleaning up the flowers garden and I felt something sticky on my hand. When I looked at it it looked like a piece of web. So I looked at the piece I was trying to pull out and I saw part of the web but no spider. So I looked a bit further and saw this GIANT spider. He was soooo close he coulda jumped on me---eeewww gross. He is so large--I think he is a garden spider but his butt looks like its deflated. As you can see he has a tasty treat.

I got a touchscreen its called a LG Dare. I really like it. Now the rest of the fam. doesn't have phone envy either since they got upgraded too with a Lg decoy and 2 touchscreen glydes.

New Different Tv
As you may know we recently go a new HD SOYO (ever heard of it? ) tv. We hooked it up and it looked great except for the red dot just low of center. So we called the company to see what we needed to do since we bought their extra warranty (sometimes it does pay) Nothing they could do but replace the tv. We took in the tv a week later expecting to just get a replacement but they told us that we could do that or they gave us store credit and we could go pick out another tv. Gary and I looked at each other, ran over to tv land and picked out a new SONY tv. We feel that we made the better deal :)

I musta missed it :(

The last 3 days there were 40+ K-9 units being certified at a HS stadium. The first 2 days were on agility and obedience and then today was on criminal apprehension. I figured I would go today and check it out but it rained this morn. I figured they would do it anyway--criminals don't wait for the rain to stop right???--well when I got there this afternoon the stadium was empty. I was disappointed. I think that would have been great to see.

On a sadder note..
We found out last night that 2 kids from our High School drowned at the lake out here. They were swimming with a group and 1 got stuck and the other went out to try free him but they were both lost. One was a senior and the other a junior in high school where Amber goes.
This place to swim is not the swimming area---a lot of kids apparently go there Amber has been there herself with friends. So you can only think Thank goodness she wasn't out there last night. Prayers out to those families

Busy, Busy, Busy.....

Now that the roof is done we are working on some landscaping. We have taken out the lilac bushes on the east side of the house now we are working on the bushes in the pictures. I don't know what they are called but we have them all over-down the prop. line, by the b-ball hoop and here just off the deck.
We did finally get the right carpet in the LR and got the HD tv hooked up but it has a prob with it so now we are working on getting a replacement for that. So soon these two rooms will be done also.

What are they???
These bee like things have taken over a portion of our back yard. They are larger than bees and wasps--I was trying to find a dead one to put a quarter next to but I think Misha eats them before I can get to them :( They are about 1 inch long. The other day Gary saw one carrying (flying) a locust into the nest. They live under the ground--we have holes dug into the ground from these creatures. I 'm not just talking 1 hole here its on both sides of the shed and there are about 4 in the yard. We plug them when we find them but they just dig them out again. Soooooo what are they??? Gary thinks they are hornets. How do we get rid of them?? We have used spray but they just come back after a couple days.

Chickens at the fair
This is a chicken and rooster--now the funniest thing about these two are their hair doos. You probably can see them very well because of the wire but the males hair was sticking out every which way and the females looked like a wig. Gary made the comment that the hairdoo looked like mine in the morn---well next thing you know the female went over and started pecking the male right in the head! We laughed so hard. How perfect right?
State Fair
Yesterday we went to the State Fair and did the best thing ever!! They had a butterfly tent with 5000 butterflies! You could go in there (Staying there as long as you wanted) and the different species of butterflies land on you. It was great!! At one time I had 9 butterflies on my lower half---everyone was calling me the butterfly lady :) I think they should bring that back every year.
