These lovely birds are becoming more common in our area. I have always wanted to get pictures of them. They are very skittish and I think you need a long range lens to get a great shot of one of them or you need to be very sneaky and still. Which I am not :) So this is the best I can get til I get a better camera :)

Hooray for screw ups!
Great surprise today--I showed up at work and they had someone scheduled to work for me today. Ya hoo right!!
Actually they had someone scheduled for the next 2 days also but I told them I would work those days. So I came home and did some house work , walked the dogs and now I am resting on the couch watching House.

Pelicans on the Lake
.jpg)
This is one of the few shots I got of the pelicans at the lake. There were only about 6 left and they were hanging out near the beach til I got close enough they they took off for the middle :(
There are usually hundreds of them here in Sept. But here we are in Oct. so I am a little late getting out there to see them
Natural Play Area
Here we went to Jester Park to see if there were any Pelicans left and check out the fall colors. At the back by the buffalo and elk they have made a natural play are for the kids. So we took a few shots--one of the stairs made out of posts was really a neat idea. I dont' really know if the kids will understand the natural toys--I feel they will probably be like " where are all the swings, monkey bars slides, etc" but who knows kids could be different today :)

Last weekend....
we went down to the Covered Bridge Festival. Gary had never been there and wanted to see the covered bridges plus the festival. It was not so much fun in my opinion and took about 20 min to go through. There was mostly food and some crafts plus some alpacas in town square. Then you had to drive around the country side looking for the covered bridges. We did find a maze made out of hedges--that was real fun to walk through and there was a covered bridges not too far from there. This is where they filmed the movie Bridges of Madison County with Clint Eastwood and Meryl Streep

Interesting day...
This morning at work a package came in that was suspected of having drugs in it. They brought in a drug-sniffing dog. It was so exciting to watch him work. He ended up tagging the package for drugs twice. The owner showed up to get the package and was arrested outside after they found drugs inside the box. Yeah for the dog!
I think this would be an exciting line of work to get into. I wonder how you do that?

A Couple Peeves.....
I was at work today and there was a girl who was driving her car while talking on her cell phone she had her dog in the back seat. The window was down and the dog was hanging out looking around and barking at cars. All I could think was "Wow--is she really paying any attention to what she is doing??? You know between the barking and the talking. "
Here is another one: On the way home from work I saw a mortorcycle on the highway---you know where its 55mph and people really go 65mph- and he had a back pack on. Nothing unusual there right??? Well he had a Minature Pincher in it or should I say sticking out of it barking up a storm, bouncing up and down. I am going to assume he was tied in but where is the saftey here. Oh, the driver did have his helmet on :)

Zoo Day
We also went to the zoo last weekend. They have a fish feeding area that swans and ducks try to get food also. Gary and I were just checking out the fish from the bridge and 2 ducks came up from the water around the corner of the bridge and just hung out at Garys feet. It was really funny they just kept walking around his feet. Then when we went to the swans a little girl was feeding them and her mom wasn't watching--guess what happened???? Yup thats right That swan bit that 5yr old hand. I have to say it was kinda funny from my perspective and my camera's :) Yup I did get a pic of that-- I even showed it to her mom--see how nice I am :)
The zoo was great!!!
