I know I usually write about fun stuff but today I will not be putting something like that in this space. Today we went to the funeral of a classmate of Stevens that we also happen to be friends with the family since he was in kindergarten. He had just turned 19 in June and decided life was too much for him. The amazing thing to me about this was at the funeral all the classmates that showed up to support him and the family. There were about 70+ college kids at the funeral not counting the others at the visitation. One of them even spoke representing the others that were there. Kids came from all over just for the funeral and had to get back to school today. Amazing to me.
I know that in my class, in my day, this would not have happened especially being 2 years out of high school. I talked about it with Steven today and I think its because of facebook and myspace.
That keeps all the kids involved with each other. Very good for myspace and facebook huh?
Rest in Peace Joey
You were amazing!

what do you mean about myspace and facebook? Do you think it is detrimental? I wasn't sure where you were going. I personally stay off of those pages, because they suck up too much time. Instead I read a few blogs!
What I meant was I think it keeps kids closer and more in touch with each other than it did in our age. I think that really helped out in this case. Heck half of my class still doesn't use facebook to keep in touch only email.
gotcha
I read somewhere that people my age are signing up with Facebook in order to keep in touch with their children and grandchildren. Since families are so spread apart these days it is a good way to stay connected. Sorry to hear about your friend - always sad when a young person cuts their life short.
